PROMOTING THE ARTS

Here's why Brainstorm in uniquely qualified to help promote your arts organization

800-760-7706

The two principals of Brainstorm, Kelly Sargent and Paul Bridson have had a lifelong commitment to the arts. Kelly has a Masters of Fine Art and has spent a lifetime helping organizations and people tell their stories, mentoring young artists and supporting those trying to earn a living through their creative endeavors. Paul has a degree in Trombone Performance and has played professionally for 35 years, including over 25 years as the lead trombonist, clinician and jazz soloist for the acclaimed Des Moines Big Band. Touring organizations from Tommy Dorsey to the 10,000 Maniacs to the Four Seasons have called him in to play the high and fast stuff, and he maintains a busy teaching studio and gig schedule.
What's more, together, they manage a seventeen-piece big band, the Turner Center Jazz Orchestra. With a seven-concert subscription series, TCJO has gone from a few loyal supporters to totally sold-out seasons (and a well-paid band) in just seven short years. Building that audience was no easy task. So you might say, we know just a couple of things about the challenges arts organizations face every day.

How easy is this?

Here are some ideas:

MUSICIAN DISPLAYS
Depending on the needs of the organization, this display can take many forms. The hallmark of the system is the client's ability to easily and inexpensively change out individual musician photos, keeping your roster current! We can design this to your own size, with or without headers, rolling wheels, lights and cases. Custom, but not difficult!

PORTABLE POP-UP DISPLAYS
If you're doing community events off-site (and we know you are) a striking graphic lets everyone know just who they're listening to. These displays are more affordable than ever, thanks to dye-sublimation printing on fabric.

WALL-MOUNTED & HANGING SIGNS
Either permanent or portable, these structures can turn a generic space into a branded space with very little effort. Fabric-printed graphics keep the weight at a minimum, but with a high-impact graphic pop! So much more attractive than a vinyl banner! For the Des Moines Symphony, we added a "sponsor insert" that changes with every concert.
Backlit options available!

GRAPHIC TOWERS
Three or four-sided, front or backlit, these lightweight towers assemble in five minutes, but give your organization a stunning visual presence in the lobby. Fabric graphics pack into a small space, for easy storage.
Backlit options available!

Other possibilities include:
  • Outdoor flags - either pole-mounted or self-standing
  • Window clings - semi-permanent or temporary
  • Column graphic wraps - velcro a beautiful message around those columns
  • Retractable bannerstands - either fabric or non-curl vinyl graphics
  • Floor graphics - permanent or temporary
  • Interactive touch-screen kiosks - engage your audience!

A letter from
Richard Early
Executive Director of the Des Moines Symphony

To Whom It May Concern:

It is my pleasure to recommend to you Brainstorm Iowa. This highly creative and collaborative marketing organization responded to our need to brand our lobby in such a way as to make it abundantly clear to our concert patrons that they had arrived at a Des Moines Symphony event.

Like many professional orchestras, we rent our performance venue from the presenting organization that manages our city’s main performing arts hall; and there is nothing permanently displayed there that says, literally or figuratively, “The Home of the Des Moines Symphony.”

But Brainstorm solved that challenge for us. They created highly attractive and eye-catching portable signage that has made a tremendous difference for us. In particular, they came up with a brilliant portable device which allows us to display individual photos of each of our regularly contracted musicians, with their name, tenure in the orchestra, and instrument and position that attracts dozens of audience members at every performance. It is as effective as the permanent displays of musicians that adorn the lobby walls of orchestras that own their own halls.

And when the concert weekend is over, it stores away in a custom container on rollers that stores away efficiently in our instrument storage space.

That is but one example of the terrific branding work they have helped us with.  I give them my sincerest recommendation. Their work is timely, affordable and of the highest professional caliber; and they are responsive to the most specific and unique challenges.

Be ready to be impressed!
